Cult Sauerland comedian Frieda Braun presents her solo programme "Sprechpause"

Many know her from ARD-Ladies Night and tours with Gerburg Jahnke. Frieda Braun has meanwhile built a fan base across many regions of Germany. Now this quirky Sauerland artist presents her solo programme "Sprechpause".

Frieda and her "splinter group" - eleven seasoned women in total - have decided to spend seven days at a hostel this year instead of going on tour. And they're doing it in complete silence!

The silence seminar, intended for inner reflection, turns out to be a nerve-wracking ordeal for Frieda. An overly healthy breakfast featuring goat cheese and mysterious "seed mix" raises eyebrows. When loud stomach sounds shatter the silence during meditation, any hope of concentration vanishes.

Thekla's rendezvous falls through
Frieda's friend Thekla uses the week of silence to come to terms with personal disappointment. During a concert by the adored violinist André Rieu, she fell in love with a stranger from the audience.

But these delicate bonds are suddenly severed when "Horst" collapses into an armchair that turns out to be a cheap Chinese knockoff.

Wichbert's driving licence is revoked
While their wives embrace silence, Erwin and the other husbands use the free time to pursue their hobbies.

Wichbert, who lost his driving licence after a "two-component error" in traffic, is driven by a desire to bring more mobility into the home. In doing so, he even targets the nativity scene.

Erotic: an evening at Viola's
Viola, Frieda's new neighbour, uses the erotic film "Fifty Shades of Grey" as an opportunity to surprise Frieda and her unsuspecting friends with a steamy evening. One thing is clear to the women: "Our husbands must not find out about this".
