Groove and raw live energy

When a shared love of music turns into genuine friendship, something bigger than a side project tends to emerge - a band.

That is exactly the foundation Feeling Blue is built on. Since 2021 the seven-piece has been a regular presence on stages in and around Hildesheim, winning over audiences with a punchy blend of funk, soul, pop and jazz.

Centred around vocalist Ariane Stepen, the band pairs infectious grooves with sharp brass lines from trumpet and saxophone. Familiar stylistic elements get reinterpreted, broken apart and reassembled with obvious joy. The approach clearly works: at the 2022 Hildesheim Musik Grand Prix "hört!hört!", Feeling Blue took first place.

The band's music comes fully alive on stage. Improvisation, extended groove passages and room for every instrument make their shows feel spontaneous and immediate.

Drawing inspiration from artists such as Chaka Khan, Sammy Rae and Ezra Collective, Feeling Blue developed a new evening programme in spring 2026 - a mood-driven musical journey, performed right in their home city of Hildesheim.
