Field Commander C. - The songs of Leonard Cohen I Early works - The roots of Hallelujah
Theater am Ring, Saarlouis, Germany
39.5 €
Field Commander C. is a tribute to the great Canadian singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen and one of the most compelling Cohen live shows Germany has to offer.
Alongside the large-ensemble format that has long paid homage to Cohen's legendary 1979 tour - drawing standing ovations in prestigious concert halls across the country - Rolf Ableiter now takes Field Commander C. on the road in a more intimate line-up, tracing the roots of Cohen's art. The new programme is called "Leonard Cohen's Early Works - the Roots of Hallelujah".
Anyone who explores Leonard Cohen's catalogue will inevitably encounter "Hallelujah". But to understand how that extraordinary song came to exist, you have to go back to his early work. Songs like "Suzanne", "Bird on the Wire", "So Long Marianne" and "Famous Blue Raincoat" rank among Cohen's most celebrated compositions - all written during the period of his first four albums.
The evening promises melancholy, poetry, virtuosic playing and stories woven around this remarkable early catalogue: Leonard Cohen's Early Works and the Roots of Hallelujah - performed with feeling on guitar, violin, cello, organ and accordion.
