Faust. The First Part of the Tragedy

The soul is the stake. What do we wager our souls on today? Greed, consumption, intoxication, power, eternal youth, clicks on Instagram and TikTok?

Faust is in crisis - depressed and bored with life, he promises Mephisto his soul if Mephisto can free him from his dissatisfaction and bring new momentum to his existence. "Done, the bet is on." Mephisto seizes the opportunity and seals the pact with blood. As agreed with God, he sets out to lead Faust astray.

He rushes him from event to event - from Auerbach's Cellar to the Witch's Kitchen, where Faust is transformed back into a young man. In a mirror, Mephisto shows him the image of a young woman, with whom Faust instantly falls in love. With Martha's help, Mephisto arranges a meeting, and Faust showers her with gifts, jewellery and clothes. Gretchen lets herself be seduced, dazzled by Faust's manner and bearing. He has no scruples. To spend a night with her, Mephisto procures a sleeping potion for her mother. The mother dies, Gretchen falls pregnant - and the disaster runs its course...
