Luigi Must Go Home - Over the Alps to Sicily

What started as a crazy idea became a real road trip: photographers Martin Buschmann and Gereon Römer decide one evening to drive Martin's old Fiat 500 - a 1967 model nicknamed Luigi - back from Germany to Sicily. Martin was born on the island, his childhood home sits at the foot of Mount Etna, and Luigi had been sitting in his garage for years.

Questions pile up quickly: can a man who is 1.88 meters tall and weighs 100 kilograms even fit in a Cinquecento? Will the vintage car make it over the Alpine passes? What are those strange engine noises? In reality, it takes several attempts before Sicily comes into view - technical breakdowns are part of the daily routine.

In this live multimedia show, Buschmann and Römer tell the story of the hardships and happy moments of their journey: encounters with Italians at the roadside, landscapes, cuisine and history - and a little car that makes friends everywhere.
