Luigi Must Go Home - Across the Alps to Sicily — Erwin Hymer Museum, Bad Waldsee

It all started with a crazy idea. One evening, two photographers Martin Buschmann and Gereon Römer sit down together, and Martin tells the story of his homeland - Sicily. He was born on the island and grew up there, still remembering family car trips to the beach and up Mount Etna. When his parents later move to Germany, they take the car with them. Since then it has been sitting in Martin's garage.

This car is named Luigi, and it's no ordinary car - it's a Fiat 500 from 1967, an Italian legend. And most importantly: Luigi still runs! And suddenly they both have an idea: "Let's drive to Sicily with Luigi, Luigi must go home!"

But it quickly becomes clear that this journey will not be easy. Can a man 1.88 meters tall and weighing 100 kg fit into an old Fiat Cinquecento? Can Luigi handle the steep mountain roads over the Alps? Is there enough space in the car for all the luggage? And where do these strange engine noises come from?

When the three finally set off on their journey, they don't yet know how long it will take. It will take several attempts to reach Sicily, because Luigi is an old car and technical breakdowns are a regular occurrence. But Luigi is a heartbreaker - people on the street wave at him, and again and again Luigi creates personal connections with Italians.

Join this adventurous road trip with a generous helping of "Dolce Vita" and "Bella Figura". Experience in this live multivision the culinary, historical, and landscape highlights of the land of longing - Italy - but also stories about the hardships and happy moments of such a journey.

Giving up is not an option, because everyone has one shared goal: Luigi must go home!
