For over a decade, Sarah Chaksad has shaped the European jazz scene through larger ensemble formations. The Swiss alto and soprano saxophonist, composer, and bandleader is internationally celebrated for her productions and concerts.

With AMELIA, she opens a new chapter. The name has etymological roots in Old Persian and is associated with meanings such as strength, courage, and effectiveness. For Chaksad's music, AMELIA represents an active, alert way of being in the world: music that shows conviction without hardening, allows emotion without sentimentality, and makes complexity sensually tangible.

Line-up: Sarah Chaksad (compositions, alto and soprano saxophone), Fabian Willmann (bass clarinet, tenor saxophone), Andreas Tschopp (trombone), Espen Berg (piano), Lukas Traxel (double bass), and Eva Klesse (drums).

In collaboration with Jazz-Initiative Frankfurt.
