At eight years old, Sophie and her friend Daniel sit in her childhood bedroom and dream of the future: no children, but at least five dogs!

Eighty years later, in that same room, Sophie dreams of her mother, her father, and her son. And of Daniel, who sits beside her and holds her hand.

Between these moments lies an entire life - and a family story. This panorama unfolds across twelve scenes in a single room, showing one life that is sometimes mundane, sometimes funny, sometimes painful. It speaks again and again of love between people - love that sometimes falls short, yet at other times is so powerful it can sustain an entire existence.

"Sophie" is an extraordinary play precisely because it portrays an utterly ordinary life.
