Cats & Breakkies

Cats & Breakkies are four young Berliners with jazz in their hearts and techno in their DNA. In a classic band setup - electric guitar, bass, drums, keys - they deliver instrumental DJ-live-sets on stages, dance floors and festival grounds alike. Always danceable, with a flair for elegiac melodies, opulent breaks and dense sonic layers, they stand out above all for their precision in building tension and the sheer breadth of their arrangements.

Their debut album organic electro came out in 2015, produced in collaboration with David August, and earned them a nomination for the "Bremer Jazzpreis 2016" in the "Jazz & Electronics" category. Numerous festival and club appearances followed, including Kantine am Berghain, the Tallinn Music Festival and the Berlistanbul festival.

With spectral in 2018 they raised the bar again. Across ten tracks that together form three standalone short sets, they weave sonic and metric layers with real craft, drill through thick disco boards, deliver perfect build-up and drop dramaturgy - and above all generate an enormous amount of pressure in a remarkably relaxed way.
