Joeri Burger: Der Sittich

Guest performance at Velvets Theater

A married couple waits for friends to arrive for dinner. Then their colleague David calls in a panic: his apartment has been broken into, and his wife Catherine is not answering her phone. What really happened - an accident, a separation? SHE is convinced: Catherine has left David. HE thinks that's impossible. From this disagreement emerges a passionate debate about relationships - during which he indulges his tendency to mansplain, while she counters with apparent naivety that turns out to be a shrewd negotiating strategy.

In "Der Sittich," Audrey Schebat offers an intimate glimpse behind the scenes of a marital dispute and turns conventional gender roles on their head.
