A married couple waits for friends to arrive for dinner. The phone rings - their completely flustered colleague David cancels. His house has been broken into, and on top of that, he can't reach his wife Catherine. Slightly bewildered, the couple begins to speculate about the real reason for the cancellation - an accident or perhaps a separation? At least that's HER theory: Catherine has left David, which HE considers completely out of the question! Gradually they get drawn into a passionate discussion about relationships. It quickly becomes clear that he indulges his passion for "mansplaining" without restraint. She counters with feigned naivety that increasingly reveals itself as a clever negotiating strategy.

With a keen eye for the absurdly comic everyday life of couples, Audrey Schebat in "Der Sittich" gives us an intimate glimpse behind the scenes of a marital dispute and delightfully turns conventional gender roles on their head. Get ready for couples therapy par excellence!
