Mozart's Divertimento in F major is a fine example of the bright, transparent chamber writing of his early years - lightness, melodic elegance and delicate counterpoint all working in close harmony. Grieg's From Holberg's Time borrows the formal language of the Baroque and reframes it in a Romantic sound world, blending dance rhythms, grace and a touch of nostalgic colour.

Haydn's Farewell Symphony No. 45 rounds off the evening with a mix of playful wit and dramatic invention. Its slow finale - in which the musicians leave the stage one by one - is both a charming conceit and a quiet act of protest, the ensemble's way of pressing for a long-overdue return home. The work becomes a meditation on transience, solidarity and the rights of artists.

Taken together, the programme traces the range of classical styles from the galant eighteenth century to Romanticism's fond glance back at earlier eras.
