The horn quartet "German Hornsound" has earned its reputation since its founding in 2010 in Stuttgart through innovative concert formats and creative programmes. In recent years, the ensemble has appeared at nearly all major music festivals in German-speaking countries. Its repertoire spans all epochs of music history - original works, (partly original) arrangements, and newly commissioned compositions. The quartet regularly performs under conductors such as Michael Sanderling and Paavo Järvi, bringing to life Schumann's famous "Konzertstück", alongside contemporary works. Estonian composer Erki-Sven Tüür, for instance, wrote a new piece for four horns and orchestra that German Hornsound premiered with the Bochumer Symphonikern. Each of the four horn players holds a position in a professional orchestra: the Bamberger Symphonikern, Niedersächsischen Staatsorchester Hannover, Konzerthausorchester Berlin, or Düsseldorfer Symphonikern.
