The eternal struggle of Sisyphus and his stone

Myths are traditional stories that can be told over and over - and indeed still are, to this day. They don't exist in a single fixed form but live on as variations, constantly retold and reinterpreted.

The ancient Greek myth of Sisyphus inspired visual artist Matthias Kunisch to spend years exploring the figure. The result is an oversized sculpture completed in recent times.

This static figure has now been scanned, digitally scaled down, and turned into a 3D-printed game piece - then subjected to a dynamic process on the stage of LIMA-Theater. Sisyphus's relentless effort to fulfil his fateful task inevitably grants him time and space for contemplative reflection, revealing unexpected connections to philosophical questions of existence.
