UnterwegsVarieté & Duo Lagos
HebelHalle, Heidelberg, Germany
Award-winning acts and new creations from the world of contemporary circus
As part of Art y Circ, UnterwegsTheater directors Jai Gonzales and Bernhard Fauser bring internationally acclaimed circus to the HebelHalle and the courtyard of UnterwegsTheater. On 10, 11 and 12 July 2026, UnterwegsVariété from Schriesheim joins the hand-to-hand acrobatics Duo Laos from Argentina, with live music by David Goo and Jo Williams.
Avital and Jochen of Unterwegs Variété are multiple award-winning aerial acrobats who have become regular partners of UnterwegsTheater. They have toured with Cirque du Soleil, Circus Monti and Circus Roncalli, and received awards at the Festival Du Cirque De Demain in Paris and the Wuhan International Acrobatic Arts Festival in China.
At the HebelHalle, Unterwegs Variété presents a programme combining prize-winning pieces from the world stage with brand-new creations. On the swinging trapeze and bungee, Avital and Jochen deliver atmospheric and breathtaking artistry built on technical precision and mutual trust. Avital also performs a solo straps act, while her daughter Mayaan takes to the aerial hoop. At just 17, Mayaan already appeared at UnterwegsTheater in 2025 and has performed internationally at Cyclop Basel, the Western Australian Circus Festival and the Kyllini Spring Shows in Greece.
Duo Laos brings award-winning hand-to-hand acrobatics. Mercedes Martín García and Pablo G. Raffo Durruty are from Argentina, based in Barcelona, and in demand at circuses and variety theatres worldwide. They have worked together since 2004, sharing a passion for circus that grew from very different backgrounds: Mercedes Martín García was a ballet dancer before discovering circus and, after intensive training, starting out as a trapeze artist. Pablo G. Raffo Durruty trained at circus school.
