Jill Lepore is not only a Harvard professor of American history and staff writer for "The New Yorker". She is one of the world's most prominent historians, inspiring through her "captivating intelligence and joyful curiosity" (George Saunders). She won this year's Pulitzer Prize for "We the People: A History of the American Constitution". On the Schauspiel stage, she discusses her new book "The Rule of Machines" (C.H. Beck) with Rieke Havertz and Klaus Brinkbäumer, addressing the state of the USA and the global implications of artificial intelligence for democracy, justice and freedom. Jonathan Beck, publisher of C.H. Beck publishing house, will deliver the opening remarks. German text passages are read by Anna Staab. The conversation, conducted in German and English, will subsequently be released as a special episode of the podcast "Ok, America?".
