Eva Gengler - The Politics of Algorithms

Description was written before the event
AI is not neutral. It doesn't emerge in a vacuum but within a system shaped by capitalist interests, patriarchal structures, and colonial continuities. As a result, it mirrors social power dynamics - and automates existing biases. Women, people of color, and other marginalized groups are disproportionately disadvantaged by algorithmic decisions.
Eva Gengler draws on striking examples to show how such systems work, whose interests they serve - and how an intersectional-feminist perspective can make AI fairer, more transparent, and more accountable.
Dr. Eva Gengler holds a PhD in business informatics from FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg and is a co-founder of the feminist AI Community and enableYou.
