Veikko Bartel - Why Do Women Kill? - True Crime Live!!!

On Friday, 25 September 2026, at 20:00, Veikko Bartel will be a guest at Kulturhaus Torgau with his True Crime evening "Why Do Women Kill?".

Bartel is a criminal defence lawyer who specializes in defending murderers. He reads from his book "Why Do Women Kill?" and shares from his own practice: real encounters with perpetrators, conversations and moments that leave an impression. The central theme is "Why Do People Kill?" - not fictional crime cases, but the how and why behind actual crimes.

Bartel confronts his audience with questions such as: What drives a mother to kill her newborn? How do you talk to a cultured man about music and literature when you know he murdered two women? And: Could you defend these people? The press describes his work as "repulsive and fascinating at once - ice-cold and heartwarming".
