An Italian evening with opera arias, duets, overtures and Neapolitan songs awaits visitors on 22 August 2026 at Kloster Marienrode. Ticket pre-sales begin on Monday, 1 December 2025 at all usual sales outlets. In Hildesheim these are: Tourist Info at Marktplatz, Ameis Buchecke, TfN Theatre Box Office, and Marienrode Monastery Shop.

For the first time, the monastery concert starts at 19:00.

The audience will be transported on a journey through Italy - to Florence, Rome, and finally to the sea, to Naples. Unforgettable opera melodies, captivating orchestral works and heartfelt Neapolitan songs such as "Torna a surriento", "O sole mio" and "Funiculi, funicula" will be performed by magnificent soloists and the tfn-Philharmonic along with guest artists. Stefano de Laurenzi will conduct the concert.

The composers of this romantic evening are Gioacchino Rossini, Giuseppe Verdi, Giacomo Puccini and Gaetano Donizetti. Neapolitan songs by Eduardo di Capua, Ernesto de Curtis, Luigi Denza, Francesco Paolo Tosti and others will be heard.

During the intermission, an additional programme will take place on the monastery grounds, prepared in cooperation with the Italian General Consulate. Italian wines and food will be offered before the concert and during the intermission.

Partners include the German-Italian Society Hildesheim and the Italian General Consulate in Hannover. Free bus transfers from Bosch car park Hildesheimer Wald to the monastery grounds will be available to avoid large traffic jams.
