O sole mio - Italian Summer Night

On 22 August 2026, Kloster Marienrode hosts an Italian concert evening - for the first time starting at 7 pm (doors open at 6 pm). The programme features opera arias, duets, overtures and Neapolitan songs including "Torna a surriento", "O sole mio" and "Funiculi, funicula". Soloists perform alongside the tfn-Philharmonie and additional guest soloists, with Stefano de Laurenzi conducting. The works are drawn from Gioacchino Rossini, Giuseppe Verdi, Giacomo Puccini and Gaetano Donizetti, as well as song composers Eduardo di Capua, Ernesto de Curtis, Luigi Denza, Francesco Paolo Tosti and others.

During the interval, an extra programme will be presented on the monastery meadow in cooperation with the Italian Consulate General in Hanover. Italian wines and food will be available before the concert and during the interval. The Deutsch-Italienische Gesellschaft Hildesheim is also a cooperation partner.

A free shuttle bus runs from the Bosch car park at Hildesheimer Wald to the monastery grounds. Advance tickets go on sale from 1 December 2025 at all usual outlets - in Hildesheim at the Tourist Info on Marktplatz, Ameis Buchecke, the TfN theatre box office and the Klosterladen Marienrode.
