Christmas Theatre at Schloss Scharfenberg: A Christmas Carol - A Christmas Story after Charles Dickens — Schloss Scharfenberg, Klipphausen

As evening shadows fall and winter winds sweep through the valleys of the left Elbe bank, candlelight flickers and warmth radiates from the fireplace. Now is the time to hear Charles Dickens' Christmas story within the nearly thousand-year-old walls of Schloss Scharfenberg.

On Christmas Eve in Victorian London, the miserly and cold-hearted moneylender Ebenezer Scrooge, as every year, declines his nephew's invitation to Christmas dinner, treats his employee poorly, and refuses to donate to the orphanage. In his lonely world, money has long triumphed over humanity.
At midnight, when the hour of spirits begins, he receives an unexpected and terrifying visit from the ghost of his deceased business partner Jacob Marley, who is condemned to wander the world eternally as a spirit burdened by chains and suffering due to his greed and selfishness. He warns Scrooge of a similar fate and announces three further visits from beyond. Will the nocturnal spirits manage to warm the old miser's heart? And will Ebenezer Scrooge finally celebrate Christmas?
For nearly two centuries, this story has inspired people of all generations around the world and warmed every heart with its inspiring message.

Thomas Förster will be seen as Ebenezer Scrooge, while Tom Quaas, known for his virtuosic versatility, plays all other roles in the story. The third member of the ensemble is concert pianist Mirjana Rajic. In addition to acting, puppet theatre, and wonderful music, the castle's décor and atmosphere play a special role in this production.
