An Evening with Lilli Tollkien

A childhood caught between radical freedom and painful instability: in her novel "Mit beiden Händen den Himmel stützen", Lilli Tollkien tells the moving story of Lale, who grows up in a men's commune in 1980s Berlin. Surrounded by excessive parties, political utopias and seemingly boundless possibilities, she inhabits a world without clear rules and without the sense of safety she so desperately craves. With striking poetic force and unflinching honesty, the novel builds an intense portrait of vulnerability, resilience and the courage to find one's own voice.
The event is part of the Langen Nacht der Literatur Hamburg.
The evening will be hosted by Anne Sauer.
The venue is not wheelchair accessible.
