Kellerkonzert: Tango Stories von Komponistinnen - Komponistinnensommer — Babylon Kino, Fürth
Description was written before the event

Classical piano tangos, fiery ballads and compelling biographies: in the Babylon-Keller - the atmospheric cellar beneath the bar and cinema halls - Sirka Schwartz-Uppendieck (piano) and Michael Herrschel (vocals and texts) perform powerful works by women composers who shaped the history of tango.

On the programme are pioneering figures of Tango Argentino: Rosita Quiroga ("Apología tanguera"), Paquita Bernardo ("Soñando"), Azucena Maizani ("Pero yo sé"). Their Spanish forerunners also feature: Joaquina Alonso and Eloísa D'Herbil de Silva ("Que si, que no"). And of course the legendary inventor of Tango Brasileiro: Chiquinha Gonzaga ("Não se impressione", "Suspiro").

Jazzy, experimental perspectives come from Margaret Bonds ("Tangamerican"), Lía Cimaglia Espinosa ("Tango 70") and Nicole Philiba ("Tango für einen imaginären Film"). That tango passion burns just as bright in the 21st century is shown by works from Ursula Goldmann ("Invierno"), Yulim Kim ("Katharina") and Susanne Olbrich ("Compassio Tango").
