Dieter Gasde - vocals, saxophone, harmonica, flute, percussion
He founded the Thuringian blues band "Travelling Blues" and led it for over 20 years. During that time he also played with Stephan Diestelmann's folk-blues band, sang with the jazz-funk group "Prima Klima" and in the Alexander Blume Quartet. Concert tours took him to Poland and Czechoslovakia. From 1998 to 2002 he toured as a guest soloist with the Thomas Stelzer Trio and "Bloody Rhythm Fingers" from Dresden. He continues to appear as a guest with various bands, always searching for new sounds alongside different musicians. He plays soul and blues with Leonard Alexander Exson from Chicago, founded the New Orleans band "Gumbolaya", and since 2009 has been touring again with the "Travelling Blues Band". The trio's relaxed, joyful approach to their music - punctuated by Dieter Gasde's solo passages - makes for a compelling evening.
The repertoire draws on B.B. King, Snooks Eaglin, Muddy Waters, Jimmy Reed, Ray Charles, T-Bone Walker, John Lee Hooker and many more. New Orleans flavours come through in songs by the Neville Brothers, Dr. John, Professor Longhair, Fats Domino, Johnny Otis, Taj Mahal and others.
