Masterworks and rarities of chamber music from Beethoven-era Vienna, presented in the founding city of the Cyprian Ensemble, which celebrates 15 years of existence.
The Freiburg Cyprian Ensemble was founded in 2011 on the initiative of pianist Carl-Martin Buttgereit. The ensemble's instrumentation - trumpet, trombone, wind quintet, string quartet, double bass, and piano - enables the musicians to perform rarely heard chamber music in a wide variety of instrumental combinations. The ensemble includes members of the SWR Symphony Orchestra, principal woodwind soloists of the Freiburg Philharmonic, and winners of international competitions. The musicians are united by their passion for rich timbral colours, frequently changing instrumentation during concerts, and the discovery of rarely heard chamber music treasures.
