Amir-John Haddad was born in 1975 in Freiburg im Breisgau and grew up with Colombian and Palestinian roots. As a child he learned to play the oud by ear - taught by his father - before turning to flamenco. He credits the household TV breaking down and never being replaced as a formative influence on his creativity.

For nearly ten years he played guitar, oud and bouzouki with Grammy-nominated Radio Tarifa. He is also known to wider audiences through his work with film composer Hans Zimmer, including his contribution to the James Bond soundtrack No Time to Die.

At the Speyer concert, Haddad performs as EL AMIR, joined by singer, percussionist and dancer Sabrina Romero and percussionist Ricardo Espinosa.
