The Music of Hans Zimmer - performed by Lords of the Sound

Please note: the programme is (almost) the same as at the previous concert in Lippstadt on 21 November 2025. That said, we are always working to improve the show - this time with more soloists, an even more striking light show, and a few new pieces.

Hans Zimmer, the German film composer, first rose to prominence with "Rain Man". "When I was composing the music for Rain Man, I always kept one thing in mind: don't drown out the characters. Stay in the background. Raymond, the main character, doesn't really understand where he is. His perception of the world differs from ours... So why not create a 'world music' that exists only inside his head?" Hans recalls. That project proved a genuine turning point - Zimmer received an Oscar nomination, and Hollywood's most sought-after directors began lining up to work with him. He threw himself into the work, often writing musical themes for two or even three films at the same time. His music captivated Disney Studios so completely that they entrusted him with the score for the animated film "The Lion King". The title song earned him three major awards: an Academy Award, a Golden Globe, and a Grammy. Since then Zimmer has collected countless honours and is widely regarded as one of Hollywood's most exceptional artists - barely an Oscar ceremony passes without a nomination for him.
