For Dirk Zöllner, these are childhood memories. Songs by Lift, Karat, Biege, Biebl, Bartzsch, Lakomy and many others.
In the final days of the GDR, he launches his own music career with his band DIE ZÖLLNER in Berlin - at roughly the same time, Manuel Schmid is born in Altenburg. The German attempt at social alternative already lies far behind when Manuel discovers the soundtrack of the East for himself. That discovery becomes an obsession and makes him the frontman and creative force behind STERN COMBO MEISSEN.
Friends for many years, bound by mutual admiration, they have developed a fixed ensemble from occasional jam sessions. With André Gensicke on piano and Marek Arnold on saxophone, they perform the musical heritage of the East in a minimalist manner.
Not a nostalgia show, but the highest emotionality.
