Jazz im Rathaushof - Hot Four
Rathaus Speyer, Germany
Hot Four have been performing for over twenty years - at swing dance events, in jazz clubs, and at festivals across south-west Germany and beyond. The quartet's musical roots lie in the jazz of the 1920s and 1930s, shaped by the likes of Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, and the New Orleans tradition.
That's only the starting point: the band blends classic jazz with influences from 1970s pop and rock, funk, reggae, tango, and salsa. Sometimes in tuxedos with red sneakers, sometimes in relaxed vintage attire - the programme respects tradition while sounding genuinely fresh.
The four musicians: Horst Aussenhof on clarinet and bass saxophone, Joachim Lösch on cornet, Bernhard Sperrfechter on banjo and guitar, and Jens Hunstein on bass and alto saxophone and bass clarinet.
