Swan Lake
Classical ballet for children

Ages 4 and up

An evil sorcerer has turned the beautiful young Princess Odette into a swan after she wandered too close to the shore of his lake. Nearby stands an old castle, home to a noble princess and her son, Prince Siegfried. Siegfried feels a mysterious pull toward the graceful swans on the lake, unaware that they are in fact young women transformed by the sorcerer's spell - women who regain their human form for just one hour each night at midnight. Siegfried falls in love with Odette and learns the secret of her enchantment: only the love and faithfulness of a man can break the curse...

This is how the beloved story of Swan Lake begins - the most cherished ballet classic by Pyotr Tchaikovsky. Swan Lake is the most popular ballet ever staged, and for many it has become the very definition of the art form. Its score ranks among the finest ever written for the ballet stage.

This production brings a specially crafted, beautiful version of the classic to life for audiences aged 4 to 94 - made with children in mind, but never childish. Prager Festspiel Ballett dances this lovingly staged show with ambition and great elegance. Colourful costumes and an imaginative set design promise to delight young hearts.

Charismatic actress Melinda Thompson guides the audience through the story as narrator, drawing children and adults alike into the tale with witty, charming verses full of warmth.

Prager Festspiel Ballett, featuring soloists from Prague's leading opera houses, takes the audience into a world of playfulness and romance, fairy tale and wonder.
