The Desperate Thespians - Welcome to the White Room

Trapped in a white room, Ms. White, Jennings and Mr. Paine find themselves face to face with no way out. Together they must figure out how they got there, why there is no exit, and what on earth they are supposed to do. Then letters start arriving - readable only by Ms. White - demanding increasingly bizarre tasks from each of them. Only when the puppet master shows up in person do the reluctant guests seize their chance to escape.

Trish Harnetiaux's play won the Young Blood Award in 2014 and delivers sharp black comedy with a subversive edge. The New York playwright has a talent for dismantling social conventions, and this brisk short piece experiments boldly with new forms of storytelling. The English-language theatre group Desperate Thespians - most recently nominated for the Intercultural Engagement Award in Siegen in 2024 - brings the play to Siegen for three exclusive performances.

Before the main show, an exclusive one-act play by the Irish theatre group The Roscian Players from Maynooth will be performed.
