Girls' and Women's Choir of Schola Cantorum Leipzig
Conductor: Bernhard Steiner
Piano: Aya Kugele

Uplifted Voices - elevated, sublime voices - await the audience at this concert. The ensemble Reine Frauensache and the Girls' and Women's Choir of Schola Cantorum Leipzig present a survey of works by female composers whose pieces for women's voices hold an important place in the women's choir movement. Starting from Romanticism with Emilie Zumsteeg, one of the first female composers to conduct a women's choir, the arc spans choral works from the early 20th century in the Anglo-American tradition through to contemporary compositions. The audience is invited to rediscover these largely unknown works and forgotten female composers. Marleen Hoffmann from the Archive Woman and Music guides the evening with fascinating insights into the creators and their pieces.

In cooperation with Edition Peters.
