Philosophy and Music - Lecture Series with Philosopher Dr. Jürgen Lambrecht and Musical Guests

On Sunday, 26 July 2026 at 19:00, philosopher Dr. Jürgen Lambrecht will give the second lecture in his series "Philosophy of Systems" at the Spitalkirche, on the topic "Citizen and State - The Problem of Individualism". The talk addresses a question central to Western democracies: how to reconcile citizens' drive for autonomy with the demands the state places on them, without cutting back the freedoms won over centuries of Enlightenment more than strictly necessary. Systems science analysis brings a distinctive perspective to this question.

Jürgen Lambrecht is a physician, natural scientist, master of philosophy, and sociologist. He lives in Baden-Baden as a philosophical author and uses this lecture series to share findings from his academic work.

The second half of the evening features chamber music: the well-known duo Marie Viard (cello) and Lorenzo Salvá Peralta (clarinet) will round off the programme with a live performance.
