What do you do when you're fed up with your relationship but lack the backbone to end it properly? Paul has had enough of his girlfriend Sophie. Almost overnight, passion has not only cooled but transformed into genuine disgust. The woman must disappear from his life, yet he lacks the courage to break up. So he enlists his best friend in a foolproof breakup scheme: Martin is to move in temporarily under the pretense of a personal tragedy and behave so badly that Sophie will eventually leave. But the plan backfires: instead of moping around and playing the grieving fool, Martin becomes helpful around the house, cooks wonderful meals, and chats pleasantly with Sophie about their shared interests. The love triangle develops in ways Paul never anticipated, and surprises await all involved.
French playwright and screenwriter Clément Michel has crafted "Breakup for Cowards" - a fast-paced, entertaining comedy about modern relationships and the unpredictability of overly ambitious schemes. With sharp dialogue and a keen sense of situational humor, he lets his protagonist's plan spectacularly fall apart and surprises the audience more than once with an unexpected turn of events.
