Imagine the music room in a castle museum. Paintings hang on the walls, of course - large, beautiful paintings. One shows Georg Friedrich Händel, the other Johann Sebastian Bach. But both are bored: just hanging there all the time! Every night at midnight they step out of their frames. And then the argument starts. Who was the better composer? You or me? Händel or Bach? No wonder they compete - they were born in the same year, one shortly after the other. Both brought Baroque music to an unrivalled peak, heard here performed by a chamber orchestra with vocal soloists. Both still have countless fans around the world. See how the quarrel turns out - but don't place any bets, because both have exactly equal chances.
