INDIA - A Treasure Hunt Through the German Countryside — Schirrhof, Potsdam

by Josef Hader and Alfred Dorfer

"India" is one of Austria's most successful films and enjoys cult status with our neighbors. The NEW GLOBE THEATER, presenting a contemporary piece for the first time, has enriched the Austrian comedy with a singer in the style of Kurt Krömer and transplanted it to beautiful Brandenburg. Kurt Fellner, a field officer for the tourism bureau, sets out with his colleague, restaurant inspector Heinz Bösel, on a business trip to the supposed service desert of Brandenburg: one tests the beds, the other the schnitzel. And during this grueling tour, they discover what true male friendship is all about: drinking, arguing, making up. The journey through Brandenburg's countryside becomes a voyage of self-discovery.

India is the successfully adapted tragicomedy by Josef Hader, one of Austria's most renowned and popular actors and cabaret performers, and his colleague Alfred Dorfer. A piece for two seasoned comedians, somewhere between Gerhard Polt and Loriot. In the NEW GLOBE THEATER's version, the whole is complemented by live-sung hits from the highs and lows of German entertainment culture and transplanted to beautiful Brandenburg, which here represents the distinctive charm of the German provinces.
