INDIA - A Treasure Hunt Through the German Provinces | DERNIÈRE — Schirrhof, Potsdam

by Josef Hader and Alfred Dorfer

"India" is one of Austria's most successful films and enjoys cult status among our neighbours. The NEW GLOBE THEATER, staging a contemporary piece for the first time, has enriched the Austrian comedy with a pop singer in the style of Kurt Krömer and transplanted it to beautiful Brandenburg. Kurt Fellner, a technical supervisor in the field for the tourism office, embarks on a business trip with his colleague, restaurant inspector Heinz Bösel, into the supposed service desert of Brandenburg: one tests the beds, the other the schnitzel. And on this journey they discover what real male friendship means: drinking, arguing, making up. From a drive through the Brandenburg countryside emerges a journey to oneself.

India is the successfully adapted tragicomedy by Josef Hader, one of Austria's most renowned and popular actors and cabaret performers, and his colleague Alfred Dorfer. A piece for two consummate comedians, set somewhere between Gerhard Polt and Loriot. In the NEW GLOBE THEATER's version, the whole thing is complemented by live-sung hits from the heights and depths of German entertainment culture and relocated to beautiful Brandenburg, which here stands in for the very special charm of the German provinces.
