ABBEY LANE is the first and only Beatles tribute band in Kassel and northern Hesse. Their set list draws exclusively from Beatles compositions - a respectful homage to John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr.

The four musicians have been playing together since 2017. Alongside the well-known hits, ABBEY LANE gives equal space to lesser-played tracks from the Beatles' catalogue of nearly 300 songs: single B-sides and album cuts that tend to get overshadowed by the earworms. The focus falls on the psychedelic and late period - think "Strawberry Fields Forever", "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" and Abbey Road rather than "Twist and Shout".

Don't expect costumes or wigs. Instead, the band has reworked some arrangements and introduced new sonic colours - for instance, a clavinet that gives a song like "Lucy in the Sky" a surprisingly funky edge. Classics such as "Help" and "Paperback Writer" are left untouched. Scattered through the show are musical quotes from Beatles contemporaries: listen closely and you might catch Jimi Hendrix, Cream, the Rolling Stones or David Bowie.

All songs remain instantly recognisable throughout - ABBEY LANE has no interest in reinventing the originals, only in playing them fresh and with their own voice.
