But our genius could not refuse an invitation from an old acquaintance, the Baroness von Zuckerberg, to a gala dinner. So here we are, dining in the adjoining room of the restaurant, where you will enjoy a delightful three-course meal this evening.

Fleeing from his table companion, the endlessly chatty Baroness, the detective barely misses the alleged murder of the host's husband, Baron von Zuckerberg.

Admittedly, his health had seen better days. But to suddenly topple face-first into maultasche soup is hardly the refined English way to die, even in Swabia. For Sherlock Holmes, however, what had been a deadly dull evening is now rescued.
