Ronja, the Robber's Daughter — Orangerie Theater im Volksgarten, Cologne

Based on Astrid Lindgren
Adapted for the stage by Christian Schönfelder

On the open-air stage of Orangerie Theater

On a stormy night full of thunder and lightning, Ronja is born. Her parents, Mattis and Lovis, and the entire robber band burst with joy. At the same time, in the camp of the rival Borka gang, a child is born: Birk.

Ten years later, the rift between the two robber families runs deeper than ever. Yet while the adults remain locked in conflict, Ronja and Birk discover something during their secret wanderings through the forest - a quiet, powerful friendship - and their spring cry rings out.

Following "The NeverEnding Story", "Momo", and "Lotta Can Do Almost Anything", "Ronja, the Robber's Daughter" is the fourth joint production by the directing duo Erfort & Kraiss. Once again, nature becomes a co-creative force in the staging, and the open-air stage at Orangerie Theater provides the perfect backdrop for grey gnomes, wild witches, bald Per - and for the touching friendship between Ronja and Birk.

With courage and ingenuity, Erfort & Kraiss bring this classic to the stage with just two performers. Artist Lioba Wagner creates an impressive art installation that brings Astrid Lindgren's imaginative world to life. Pianist Daniel Sojunow accompanies the production live, adding depth and atmosphere through his music.
