160 Years of Railways in Cottbus! NostalgieDampf - Open Day at Bw Cottbus
Hauptbahnhof Cottbus, Germany
99 €
Cottbus marks 160 years of its railway history in 2026: the first scheduled train between Berlin and Cottbus ran on 13 September 1866, and the line was officially inaugurated on 15 September 1866. Adding to the celebrations is the Cottbus Park Railway, which has been running on 600 mm gauge track through Eliaspark to the zoo (Zoo station) and on to Branitz Castle and Park since 1 June 1854.
On 12 September 2026, a historic steam special train (locomotive 03 2155) will depart from Berlin to Cottbus and return in the evening. From Cottbus there are two departures - at around 09:15 and around 21:15 - via Calau (NL), Finsterwalde (NL), Luckau-Uckro, Baruth (Mark), Rangsdorf, Berlin Schöneweide, Berlin Lichtenberg, Königs Wusterhausen, Groß Köris, Halbe, Lübben (Spreewald), Lübbenau (Spreewald) and Vetschau (Spreewald). Passengers boarding in Cottbus can book both journeys.
The buffet or bistro car serves food and drinks, including beer from Landskron BRAU-MANUFAKTUR Görlitz, mineral water and Bauer Fruchtsäfte juices from Bad Liebenwerda. Passengers are asked not to bring their own food and drinks, as the revenue goes towards maintaining the rolling stock.
An additional ride on the Cottbus Park Railway can also be booked. Current timetables and further information at www.ldcev.de.
