Dietrich Holdmann - successful general director of one of the country's largest breweries - has been treacherously murdered before he could announce his will in his lifetime. Was it a crime born of pure greed, or did jealousy and passion play the decisive role?

The possible perpetrators can only come from the immediate circle of the murdered man: the arrogant son of the victim is suspect, as is his daughter, a fanatical women's rights activist. The director's far-too-young fiancée also has a compelling motive. Or did the grumpy brewery caretaker have a hand in it?
