Werner Reinke reads "Der Lotse"

"Here you will hear one of the most beautiful Christmas stories I know," says Werner Reinke. On Saturday, 12 December 2026, he will read "Der Lotse" by Frederick Forsyth.

"Der Lotse" (The Shepherd) tells the story of a pilot flying home alone on Christmas Eve 1957, from Celle in Lower Saxony to Lakenheath in southern England. Suddenly all navigation systems fail and thick fog closes in. His only hope of survival is a Christmas miracle - and from that moment on, things begin to happen that defy rational explanation...

Werner Reinke reads Forsyth's novella from 20:00. Before and after the reading, a few surprises are in store - it is, after all, just before Christmas.
