Vivaldi Invites You to Tango

Three regional choirs invite you to an extraordinary concert evening that brings together Baroque splendour and South American passion. Musikfreunde Laufen, VokalExpress Teisendorf, and Ensemble Giovedì Vocale, accompanied by musicians from the surrounding area, perform under the direction of Juliane Brandes and Stephan Hadulla. The evening opens with the festive and vibrant Gloria by Antonio Vivaldi (RV 589), one of the most significant sacred works of the Baroque era. We present this masterpiece in an intimate, sonically transparent orchestral arrangement.

In the second half of the evening, we transport you to the enchanting world of South American music. The programme features two tangos from Astor Piazzolla's Cuarto canciones portenas, as well as arrangements of folk melodies from various countries across the Latin American continent, delicately and atmospherically scored for choir, strings, and bandoneon by Stephan Hadulla.

As a sonic contrast, the modern a cappella work Three Themes of Life and Love by Daniel Elder will resound - a brief yet intense musical moment. Look forward to an evening that unites musical epochs and continents - from Venetian church music to South American poetry in sound.
