A new programme? Helmut Schleich does what he wants. No two evenings are alike. His role model is the government - and so he tells himself: why should I care about my blather from yesterday. After all, we live in an age where reality outpaces cabaret day after day.

"Overtake without catching up" - that's what they used to call it in socialism. Back then, Russia built the world's largest hydrogen bomb - the so-called Tsar Bomb. It was so big that no delivery system was capable of transporting it. Now that's a peace initiative. The Americans hadn't reckoned with such unbearable pacifism from the "Evil Empire".

Good cabaret and politics do have something in common after all: both want to surprise people. Cabaret must be like the Tsar Bomb once was - striking and unbearable. The motto of the evening is "I'm not serious!" - which Helmut Schleich has once again picked up from the chancellor.
