Faust 'n' Roll - Rock Theatre after Goethe

"FAUST 'n' Roll" was created on the idea of Michael Manthey, managing director of the renowned Manthey Rocco Pera GmbH, and - of course - based on the verses of Johann Wolfgang Goethe. "FAUST 'n' Roll - Rock Theatre after Goethe" is a touring theatre with a live band and is also regularly performed on the Brocken as "FAUST on the Brocken - Rock Theatre after Goethe".

The Faust story is centuries old. Johann Wolfgang Goethe's "Faust" is a universe of German poetry and leaves ample room for modernity.

"FAUST 'n' Roll" draws heavily from the fantasy world of "Steampunk", which has been skilfully woven into the story and gestures of the characters. Steampunk is a fantasy genre in which an alternative reality to our world of combustion engines and electrical engineering prevails. Temporally set in the late 19th and early 20th century, it has essentially frozen in time at the age of steam engines: everything works on steam, on crude mechanics, which is reflected in the recurring motif of gears. People wear technically modified fashion of the Victorian era, top hats, corsets and frock coats set the style. The protagonists of "FAUST 'n' Roll" feel equally at home in these wonderful costumes. Just as the play with temporal layers creates wonderful leaps through Goethe's world of characters, the costumes too make for spectacular jumps across time. The digital stage design amplifies the effect of the performance, helps eliminate the need for pyrotechnics, and cleverly blends multimedia with real effects - giving each scene a special depth. Two LED walls, which can be combined into one depending on the scene, serve as backdrop and pillars of the stage design.

The actors of "FAUST 'n' Roll" are seasoned professionals in the musical theatre business, and the stage musicians are specialists of the highest calibre.
