Il Rondo - Dances Through the Ages

The Kassel quartet "Il Rondo" takes audiences on a journey through dance music spanning four centuries and 10 countries. Courtly baroque ballroom dances are set against the expressive, spirited sounds of the Romantic era. A mannered minuet gives way to a stately waltz, an Irish jig meets a Hungarian csárdás.

The programme features works in dance rhythms by Brahms, Boccherini, Kreisler, de Falla, Dvořák, "Waltz King" Johann Strauss, and others.

This colourful parade of dances shows how people moved to music across very different times and places.
