Germany, late 1940s: Three women dream of performing before the American president in the White House garden. Their path to this goal leads through a singing competition - which can only be won if Miss Wonder participates. At the auditions they meet: Rosa, a substitute German teacher; Käthe, a seamstress with opera training; and Hilde, a milkmaid and yodeler, a pure natural talent. A women's orchestra is to be formed - more precisely, a women's band, as Captain John McGintley, the organizer of the "Anglo-German-Swing Festival", explicitly emphasizes.

Murat Yeginer tells this story with humor, a wink of the eye, and a good dose of melancholy. Woven throughout are numerous songs from the 1930s and 1940s: "Bei mir bistu scheyn", "It Don't Mean A Thing (If It Ain't Got That Swing)", "Cheek to Cheek", and "Sing, sing, sing".
