Germany, late 1940s. Three women want to fulfil their dream: to perform a concert before the American President in the White House garden. But to achieve this, they must win a singing competition. And that's only possible if Fräulein Wunder takes part! At an audition they meet: Rosa, a substitute German teacher, Käthe, a seamstress with opera training, and Hilde, a milkmaid and yodeller, a natural talent through and through. A women's orchestra is to be founded, or more precisely: a women's band, as Captain John McGintley, the organizer of the "Anglo-German-Swing Festival", emphasizes. A major challenge - not just for these three so different "German Frolleins".
With a wink and a nod, extraordinarily humorous yet equally melancholic and touching, enriched with numerous songs from the 1930s and 1940s such as "Bei mir bistu scheyn", "It Don't Mean A Thing (If It Ain't Got That Swing)", "Cheek to Cheek" and "Sing, sing, sing", Murat Yeginer tells a story that captivates us.
Press reviews
"Frolleins" ignite the concert hall
Author Murat Yeginer brings swing and comedy together, combining humorous lightness with nostalgic flair. (...) The professional performers shine with powerful voices, excellent timing, elegant dance choreography by Sorina Kiefer, and great stage presence and joy in their craft. (...)
