Shamrock - Irish Folk & Scottish Music

For more than three decades, Shamrock have been enriching and energising the Irish folk scene between the rivers Inn and Salzach.

With skill, commitment and an obvious love of playing, this cult band from the Chiemgau region delivers rousing rebel songs alongside tender love ballads, humorous everyday tales, and lively jigs and reels from the Emerald Isle and the Scottish Highlands and Lowlands. Shamrock offer a characteristic cross-section of the vast variety of Irish and Scottish folk music - charming, unpretentious and with a strong connection to their audience.

They can rightly be called a real "rock band" too - as a tribute to Irish and especially Scottish tradition, it's not only the two women, Claudia (banjo, bouzouki, guitar) and Maj (fiddle, flute, mandolin, tin whistle), who wear classic skirts. The three men - Valej (bodhran), Jonny (cajon, wooden spoons, percussion) and Tom (bass, guitar) - also take to the stage in colourful kilts with typically Irish (Tom and Valej) and Scottish (Jonny) tartans.
