The trumpet takes centre stage in the German Radio Philharmonic's first studio concert: as a virtuoso soloist in works by Vivaldi and Telemann, as a brilliant voice in Mendelssohn's Overture and Haydn's Symphony No. 94 "Surprise" - and as a quiet counterpoint in Charles Ives' "The unanswered question".
Programme
Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy - Overture in C major op. 101 "Trumpet Overture"
Antonio Vivaldi - Concerto for Two Trumpets, Strings and Basso continuo in C major RV 537
Charles Ives - "The unanswered question"
Georg Philipp Telemann - Concerto for Three Trumpets, Two Oboes, Timpani and Basso continuo in D major TWV 54:D3
Joseph Haydn - Symphony No. 94 in G major Hob. I:94 "Surprise"
Robert Hofmann, Hagen Rauscher and Joachim Schröder perform on trumpet and provide artistic direction; Roland Kunz moderates. The concert will be broadcast live on SR kultur.
Photography and sound recording are not permitted. Late entry at the discretion of the hall staff.
