"Vorsicht ist besser als Nachtisch" is a relentlessly funny comedy show, packed with genuine ear-gold and the purest silver of waffle. Germany's reigning champion of beating around the bush and his unmusical brother are back with a head full of bees, serving up 90 minutes of short-form cabaret: language ballet, verbal mime, and jokes you have to see to believe.

Thoughts are crafted here - still by hand, and they look it: getting older has its ups and downs, so in old age you get something like gout and shade. Why isn't an animal shelter just called a "Zwinger-Club"? Can you tailor a bag out of conversation material? Everyone's scared of "AI" - but what's actually so dangerous about a number plate from Kiel? And do you have to use up green energy quickly before it wilts?

Fair warning: PODEWITZ shows are nothing like a Waldorf kindergarten. Applause is compulsory. For unruly audience members, the inventors of authoritarian entertainment have a full toolkit of coercive measures - and a hail of penalty poems with nonsense lyrics, rhyme culture, and poetry born from mishaps.
