Der Hype um Leipzig - Contemporary Choir Music mit Lype
Kupfersaal, Leipzig, Germany
20 €
Conductor: Daniel Barke
With Lype, choral singing becomes an event in itself. This new Contemporary Choir brings together nearly 70 singers aged 20 to 50 in an innovative fusion of their home city Leipzig and the energy of contemporary music. Musically, the ensemble is best described as "cinematic" and "fantasy" - heard in sophisticated vocal arrangements by the likes of James Rose, Rob Dietz, Ben Bram, and choir director Daniel Barke himself. The programme ranges from a sweeping new take on the choral classic "And So it Goes" to a rhythmically striking crossover piece that weaves together the Jewish song "Shir Avoda" and the German folk song "Die Lorelei".
From jazz icon Jacob Collier to contemporary classical composer Alec Roth, Lype's repertoire spans an impressive range.
Programme:
Songs and works by Jacob Collier, Billy Joel, Nemo, Joachim Rust, Alec Roth and others, in vocal arrangements by James Rose, Rob Dietz, Ben Bram, Daniel Barke and more.
