Pokal Grand Opening: new format brings all the stars to Nürnberg at the end of August

Table tennis fans have a new top event to look forward to: the Tischtennis Bundesliga (TTBL) is launching the Pokal Grand Opening, a brand-new format in which the participants for the Liebherr Pokal Final4 will be determined for the first time in the 2026/27 season. The venue on 29 and 30 August 2026 is the Kia Metropol Arena in Nürnberg. Tickets are on sale now.

At the Pokal Grand Opening in Nürnberg's Kia Metropol Arena, the teams are playing for high stakes right from the season's opening weekend: the round of 16 of the German Table Tennis Cup will be held on Saturday, 29 August, in two sessions running simultaneously across four tables. The eight winning clubs return on Sunday, 30 August, competing in two sessions on two tables in the quarterfinals for spots at the Liebherr Pokal Final4. The field consists of the twelve TTBL clubs plus four teams that qualified through the Cup preliminary round.
